This week’s Flashback Friday features K.Will’s (케이윌) smash video hit “Please Don’t” (이러지마 제발).
Before we get into the video itself… here’s a bit about K.Will.
Known mostly for his power ballads (especially from OSTs), K.Will is also a well established song writer, vocal coach, DJ and TV personality. His birthname is Kim Hyung-Soo (김형수) and was born on December 30, 1981. He served his military service prior to debuting but it was cut a bit short due to an injury. K.Will had a breakout hit in 2006 with “Dream” from A Love to Kill in 2006.
His next big single was Love 119 in 2007 with MC Mong, which landed at number 1 on many charts. Later followed by My Heart Is Beating (가슴이 뛴다), “I Need You” (니가필요해), he had many music videos that featured a lot of popular K-Pop stars or Drama Actors.
Then came, the song featured this week… It’s a catchy mid-tempo ballad about losing someone you love because the other grows distant… The video features Seo In-Guk (서인국), Sistar’s Dasom (김다솜) and little known (at the time) Ahn Jaehyun (안재현). Since I don’t want to give away the plot of the video, I won’t say much more here, but the video has gained popularity for its uniqueness and portrayal of the theme of the song.
K.Will has had many more successful songs since, and is making a comeback this week with Growing (꽃이 핀다).
And… he’s known for mimicry too 🙂
