Wonder Girls – I Feel You / Reboot (Review)

The Wonder Girls are back and they’re looking as good as ever with their new single “I Feel You”, from their third album called “Reboot”.

The video is like an 80s exercise video which at first made me think I was watching something old… The intro scene with the unzipping of pants = omg…   The song has a really great throwback sound of songs from the 80s… with that retro beat and synth track.  The video totally matches this feel with the neon colored clothes and slightly grainy scenes.

The rest of the album kinda plays around with that retro feel where a lot of the songs have the feel of the late 80s and early 90s.  But at the same time, it has this sophisticated and mature air about it which is really nice.  Check out the album sampler below to get a taste of the entire album in about 3.5 minutes, then go out and buy it!

You can see my track by track rankings below, but I’ll point out a couple of songs really remind me of oldies…   Baby Don’t Play has the drum underlay that reminds me of Jane Child’s “Don’t Wanna Fall In Love”.

Candle has the bassline that reminds me of Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'”.  Am I saying they’re copying?  No, I’m just saying there are elements of the song that remind me of these other songs, which makes me like them more.

The rest of the album is a mix of retro sounding songs like I mentioned before.  From saucy sounding track like OPPA, to sweet ballads like Gone, the album is a great mix of songs that is sure to please!

I’ve always been a fan of them and was a bit sad to hear Sohee and Sun leaving the group, but as with all group shake ups, the show goes on and as long as the music is good, it’s all good.
